MBPJ staff contracts Covid-19

COVID-19 | A staff member at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday, sources said.

The sources told Malaysiakini that the staff is a driver at the department of health and environment service.

It is learned that the staff, in his 20s, has been absent from work for a week prior to having been tested with coronavirus due to fever.

According to the sources, among the places that the staff visited before he fell ill was a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysiakini has contacted the MBPJ corporate communications for confirmation.

Following the latest wave of Covid-19 outbreak in the country, mostly in Sabah and Kedah, several cases have surfaced.

In the same district, a teacher at SMK Sea had contracted the coronavirus yesterday, which resulted in students and staff who had close contact to undergo home quarantine.

Prior to that, One Utama Shopping Centre, which is located in Petaling Jaya, was also affected after an outlet staff was suspected of having Covid-19. He was sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Another mall, Paradigm, also reported that an employee from an outlet has been infected with Covid-19 after coming in close contact with his roommate who had just returned from Sabah. - Mkini
