MCA clarifies it will never cooperate with DAP

PETALING JAYA: MCA has clarified that it will never cooperate with DAP following talk that the two rival parties had made amends.

“MCA will never cooperate with DAP, which is two-faced and chauvinistic in nature. They are also the main reason causing racial discord in this country, ” MCA spokesman Mike Chong said in a statement on Facebook on Wednesday (Oct 21).

Chong was referring to a now-deleted post by blogger Syed Akbar Ali, who uploaded a clip of footage from 2017 of party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong sharing a light moment with DAP MPs as well as Lim Guan Eng.

Chong explained that the video was taken at the end of 2017, where Dr Wee had bumped into Lim as well as other DAP MPs at a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur after the Parliament session was adjourned.

Before the video was taken, Chong said Dr Wee had sent Lim a message earlier in the day, offering flood relief aid to the people in Penang without taking into consideration political beliefs.

“But Lim replied to Dr Wee’s message saying that he did not know who he is.So when they bumped into each other in the restaurant, Dr Wee sarcastically asked Lim whether he was pretending or he did not realise who Dr Wee was then.”

Chong also clarified that Dr Wee was having dinner with his office staff in a room beside Lim, who was accompanied by a group of DAP MPs.

“What’s for sure is that they did not share a meal on the same table, ” he added.

Chong pointed out that there were many examples where Lim was friendly to his political adversaries such as Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, and among others.

“Inter-party and intra-party mingling by MPs outside Parliament is not an issue. They should play their respective roles as a government and Opposition representative in a professional and mature manner, ” he added.
