An MRT staff member working on the Kajang Route as transit officer has tested positive for Covid-19, according to a statement released by Prasarana Malaysia Bhd today.
It stated that the person last reported for duty on Oct 21, and has been taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
The company, however, did not specify the date when the person was admitted and tested with the coronavirus.
"Following the test result, Rapid Rail, which is the operator for MRT Kajang Route, has carried out disinfection works and clean-up at the employee's work station last night according to guidelines set by the Health Ministry.
"Trains, meanwhile, have been undergoing daily disinfection activities every night after the end of the day's operations," the company said.
According to Prasarana, all colleagues of the affected staff member identified as close contacts have also been ordered to undergo Covid-19 screening, and to self-quarantine for 14 days.
Prasarana said the MRT Kajang Route and all other transportation services operating under Prasarana are safe for public use.
It urged commuters to always follow anti-Covid-19 standard operating, including wearing face masks at all times, using hand sanitisers and register themselves using MySejahtera application every time they enter and use the transportation system. - Mkini
