A Muafakat Nasional committee meeting which was scheduled to be held this week has been called off in light of the surge in Covid-19 cases.
A source told Malaysiakini the decision followed Umno's footsteps in postponing the party's divisional meetings.
"The Muafakat Nasional meeting was supposed to take place this week, but it's now postponed following the spike in Covid-19 cases.
"We have also decided to postpone Umno divisional meetings as announced yesterday," the source told Malaysiakini.
Malaysiakini is attempting to reach Umno and PAS leaders on these updates.
The Muafakat meeting was expected to see discussions over PKR president Anwar Ibrahim claim that he had gathered enough support from MPs to topple the Muhyiddin Yassin-led PN government.
Previously, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had claimed that the party had no control over its MPs who wanted to support Anwar.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan then demanded for Umno to elaborate on its stand with regards to its support of the PN government.
Instead, Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki urged Pas to explain its decision to join Perikatan Nasional as a component member. - Mkini
