MySejahtera data shows no spread of Covid-19 in shopping malls, eateries

MySejahtera said the data showed the areas visited by an infected person did not necessarily cause transmission of the virus.

PETALING JAYA: Data from MySejahtera, the government’s Covid-19 contact tracing app, shows that the virus has not been spread at shopping malls and eateries, a statement from the developers said today.

In messages posted on Twitter, MySejahtera officials said that 89.3% of people found infected had visited malls and eateries in Klang Valley, but the virus had not been spread to other patrons.

They said 94.9% of the patients had also visited eateries.

“Investigations and contact tracings proved no spread of Covid-19,” the message said.

The data showed that transmission of the virus was not necessarily caused by visits of an infected person.

“Allay your fears, stay positive,” the message said, and reminded Malaysians to use face masks, sanitise their hands and maintain physical distancing.

Several Covid-19 cases have been reported among retail workers at several popular shopping malls in the Klang Valley. The affected premises have undergone sanitisation.

MySejahtera’s tweets came in the wake of a record high of 432 Covid-19 infections being reported by the health ministry today. - FMT
