GEORGE TOWN: All individuals who attended Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow's press conference in Komtar here yesterday have been advised to stay at home.

They have also been advised to strictly adhere to the standard operating procedure (SOP) if they need to go to work or be in public places.

This came after a videographer, who covered the event yesterday, was told to go for the Covid-19 swab test after his housemate contracted the virus today.

Chow said he was told by the state Health Department that the videographer had gone for the swab test.

"The department also said quarantine order will only be issued against close contacts of positive Covid-19 individuals.

"The department will update the Chief Minister's Office on the result of the videographer's swab test and any further development from time to time," he said in a statement issued today.

Chow had also cancelled an event scheduled for tomorrow.

Earlier this afternoon, Kelab Media Mutiara Pulau Pinang (Mutiara) confirmed a pressman here had been ordered to undergo home-quarantine after his housemate was tested positive for Covid-19.

Mutiara said the pressman, a club member, took a swab test at the Bayan Baru Health Clinic today. He is currently awaiting the test result.

Mutiara president Imran Hilmy Tawfik Hilmy said the videographer's last assignment was yesterday, where he had covered Chow's press conference in Komtar.

He said any close contact of the videographer should immediately seek medical advice from the state Health Department. - NST
