PMO: Muhyiddin not given surveillance bracelet, tested negative 4 times

The Prime Minister's Office has clarified that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin was not given a surveillance bracelet by the Health Ministry during his self-quarantine period which will last until Oct 16.

"Based on the risk assessment made by Health Ministry officers on Oct 5, 2020, the prime minister was advised to undergo self-quarantine and self-health monitoring for each day for the 14 days using the home assessment tool that is found in the MySejahtera app.

"Thus, the allegation that the PM has violated the directive of the Health Ministry is not true," said the PMO in a statement today.

The Health Ministry issued the HSO to Muhyiddin after confirming that Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri was Covid-19 positive.

Muhyiddin had chaired a special National Security Council (NSC) meeting attended by Zulkifli on Oct 3.

The PMO added that the results of the Covid-19 detection test that was carried out on Oct 5 on Muhyiddin were confirmed as negative on Oct 6.

"Aside from that, he also did three Covid-19 tests in the last three weeks - that is on Sept 22, 26 and 29 - and he tested negative on all three.

"The prime minister, however, was advised to seek treatment at the nearest health facility immediately if he displays any symptoms during the self-monitoring period.

"At the moment, his health is in good condition. Despite that, he will continue with self-quarantine for 14 days as advised by the Health Ministry," said the PMO.

Aside from Muhyiddin, other cabinet members present included Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Health Minister Dr Adham Baba, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Works Minister Fadillah Yusof and Education Minister Radzi Jidin.

Among top civil servants in attendance at the meeting included Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and inspector-general of police Abdul Hamid Bador.

The HSO expires on Oct 16. - Mkini
