COVID-19 | Record high daily Covid-19 numbers, Kedah, Sabah top list
The Health Ministry has reported a record-high number of daily new Covid-19 cases today.
There were 287 new cases recorded by the Health Ministry, mostly in Kedah (129 cases), Sabah (113) and Selangor (31).
There were also new cases recorded in Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Labuan, Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Pahang.
Twenty of these cases involved individuals who recently travelled to Sabah.
The total number of cases involving recent travels to Sabah stood at 139.
Covid-19 patients requiring intensive care have also risen to 22, up from 20 yesterday. This is the fifth consecutive day in which this number has continued to rise.
Currently, the number of active Covid-19 cases is 1,540. The last time Malaysia has seen such numbers was in early June.
In Kedah, 128 cases were from the Tembok cluster, which involved a jail.
In Sabah, 52 cases were detected among those reporting symptoms. Thirty-five cases were detected in the Benteng cluster and another 15 from the Bangau-Bangau cluster.
The Bengteng cluster also involved a jail while the Bangau-Bangau cluster involved a floating village in Semporna town.
Sabah also saw one health worker contracting Covid-19.
In Selangor, 13 new cases involved those with recent travel history to Sabah.
Two new clusters have emerged in Selangor, known as the Seri Anggerik (8 cases) and Seri Setia (1) clusters respectively.
The Jalan Meru cluster, reported yesterday, saw an increase of three new cases.
Of the 22 patients currently under intensive care, four require ventilator support.
There were 81 one new discharges of Covid-19 patients, bringing the total discharges to 10,095 (85.8 percent recovery rate).
No new deaths were recorded as of noon today. The Covid-19 death toll for Malaysia stood at 136. - Mkini
