Religious affairs minister recovers from Covid-19

COVID-19 | Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri has recovered from Covid-19.

He said on Facebook that he has been allowed to be discharged from his ward today after his recovery was confirmed.

“Nevertheless, the Health Ministry has advised me to prioritise rest at home until the conditional movement control order is over…

“For now, I’m advised not to meet anyone. Therefore, any meeting would only be done through video conferencing.

“I will continue to monitor all operations and reports from religious agencies under my purview from home. Any public announcement will be done through my social media channels,” he added.

Zulkifli had tested positive for the disease nine days ago on Oct 5. In the 14 days prior - which is the incubation period of the disease - he had travelled across five states including Sabah and attended numerous public events.

This included a National Security Council meeting on Oct 3 that was also attended by numerous top government officials including Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

His attendance at the meeting meant those closest to him were issued Home Surveillance Orders and required to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine period, while others had gone into quarantine voluntarily as a precaution.

Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who was also among those quarantined after the meeting, had said no one at the meeting tested positive for the disease as of Oct 11. - Mkini
