Sabah CM self-quarantines after exposure to Covid-19 patient

COVID-19 | Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor will be undergoing self-quarantine after being exposed to an individual who later tested positive for Covid-19.

In a brief statement, the state secretariat said Hajiji will be in quarantine for two weeks.

"The state government will function as normal, and if meetings need to be held it will be done via video conferencing," it said.

Hajiji was sworn-in on Sept 29 after the Gabung Rakyat Sabah coalition won the state election late last month.

The election had been cited as one reason for the resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the country.

Several voters in Beaufort have tested positive, prompting a screening call for the district.

Several politicians from both sides who campaigned in the election have also tested positive on their return to the peninsula.

In one case, a teacher in Penang who was married to a politician who went to Sabah, tested positive and later prompted swab tests to be done on 600 students.

As of yesterday, there have been 283 cases of Covid-19 linked to travel to Sabah since Sept 20. - Mkini
