Sabah election bus driver in Sandakan’s new cluster

PETALING JAYA: The index case of the Ramai-Ramai cluster in Sabah has been revealed to be a bus driver who had transported polling workers on duty for the Sabah elections on Sept 26.

In a press conference, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cluster reported 22 new infections today, the highest among the 14 other clusters that recorded new cases.

Noor Hisham said the bus driver had experienced symptoms on Sept 27 and tested positive on Oct 3.

The patient is being treated at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan.

A total of 48 cases have been reported from the cluster, while 393 people have been screened. All cases are still active. The patients are Malaysians except for two foreigners.
