COVID-19 | A purported set of guidelines for Sabah inter-district travel restrictions that are currently being shared online was inaccurate, Sin Chew Daily reported.
Sabah state secretary Safar Untong told the daily that the purported guidelines, that was briefly shared on the National Security Council's Facebook page, was only internal reference material and would not be enforced tomorrow.
From midnight tonight, Sabahans are not allowed to cross district lines, in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19.
However, the purported guidelines instead described very strict rules reminiscent of the movement control order (MCO) imposed nationwide in March, preventing dine-in and limiting business hours.
According to Sin Chew Daily, the document was shared on the NSC Facebook page at 7.10am, but rescinded half an hour later.
The report claimed that during that brief period, the NSC had received a lot of flak because previous announcements by the authorities did not include such strict rules.
In recent weeks, Sabah's Covid-19 case numbers have soared.
As of today, 136 individuals who have returned from Sabah to other parts of the country since Sept 20 have tested positive for Covid-19 and started several cluster.
Four districts in Sabah - Kunak, Tawau, Lahad Datu and Semporno - are currently under targeted enhanced MCO restrictions.
These restrictions involved a ban on inter-district travel and a ban on all business activities except those providing essential services. - Mkini
