KLANG: Nothing untoward happened during the high tide phenomenon along Selangor’s shorelines, although the seawater level was reasonably high at 5.7m.
Selangor Disaster Management Unit operations officer Muhammad Izzat Haziq Mohd Nazir said the reading was taken at 6.11am in Port Klang.
Out of Selangor’s five shorelines, only Kuala Selangor experienced a little flooding during the high tide phenomenon yesterday morning.
Muhammad Izzat said there were some flooding and small mishaps only in Kuala Selangor while Kuala Langat, Sepang, Klang and Sabak Bernam did not record any untoward incidents.
“Bund and river fort erosion occurred at Kg Sungai Janggut in Jeram, Kuala Selangor, and sea water also flooded two houses in the area, ’’ he added.
He said an evacuation centre had been prepared and kept on standby at SK Tambak Jawa in the event there was a need to move residents.
“Other areas in Kuala Selangor only saw very little flooding when sea water overflowed out of bunds and forts.
“The bunds at the seafront were all in good and stable condition, ’’ said Muhammad Izzat.
He added that the other four Selangor shorelines only saw a little flooding which quickly receded.
All the beachfront bunds in the four locations were also in good and stable condition. - Star
