KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has reached another milestone after the Times Higher Education (THE) World Subject Rankings 2021 ranked the university for three subject areas.
The ranking which was released yesterday ranked UniKL 501–600 in Business and Economics, 801+ in Computer Science and 801–1000 in Engineering.
This ranking now places UniKL as one of the top six Malaysian universities in Business and Economics and among the top 10 universities in Computer Science and Engineering.
Earlier in September, UniKL made its debut into the 2021 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings after it was ranked at 1000+ band.
Consequently, the university emerged as one of the top 10 Malaysian universities.
UniKL acting president and chief executive officer Prof Dr Shahrulniza Musa attributed the achievements to the university's culture of excellence.
"In 2014, we aspired to become one of the top universities in Asia by 2020, which led to the launch of UniKL's five-year We4Asia programme in 2016.
"Congratulations to all those involved in turning this aspiration into a reality.
"These achievements are results of our short and long-term initiatives which we have been pursuing since 2016.
"As a university which embarks on Higher Technical Vocational Education and Training (HTVET), the recognition by Times Higher Education has put us on the global map as one of the best universities in the world," he said.
The 2021 THE World Subject Rankings saw a record 1,512 universities ranked in at least one (out of 11) subject areas, including 522 newly ranked institutions this year. - NST
