KOTA KINABALU: The crocodile which was sighted along a river in Kg Takuli, Beaufort over the past week has been captured.
The reptile is close to three metres in length and was caught when it entered a trap set up by Wildlife Rescue Unit Rangers on Monday (July 12).
According to the WRU Facebook page, the trap was set up on July 9 following reports by villagers in the area.
They told WRU officials that they had seen the crocodile several times and were concerned about their safety and the trap was set up and placed at a strategic location after that.
On Monday, villager Henry Jonik Jacob called the WRU and informed them that the reptile had been trapped.
WRU officials later brought the crocodile to the Wildlife Rescue Center in Potuki. - Star
