A school bus driver was charged in the Sessions Court in Ipoh today with committing physical sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl two years ago.
K Ravichandran, 53, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to the charge before judge N Priscilla Hemamalini.
He was charged with committing the offence while carrying the girl on his motorcycle to send her home from school between 1pm and 1.25pm on Aug 6, 2019.
The charge, framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, provides imprisonment for up to 20 years and whipping, if found guilty.
He was allowed bail of RM4,000 with one surety and the court set Sept 24 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Waffy Ismail prosecuted, while lawyer Shamini Karunananthan represented the accused.
