PETALING JAYA: Five couples, who are believed to be lovers, have been arrested for taking part in a wild booze and drug party at an apartment unit along Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur, last night.
In the 7.30pm raid, following complaints from the public, police detained the 10 suspects, aged from 18 to 40. One of them was a civil servant.
Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said two of them had violated the ban on interstate travel just to be part of the gathering.
Zainal said urine tests were conducted on all the suspects, with nine of them testing positive for drugs believed to have been consumed during the party, adding that an amplifier and alcoholic drinks were seized during the raid.
“The five couples were believed to be lovers, with two of them violating the Covid-19 SOPs on the travel ban, coming from Sungai Buloh and Kajang in Selangor.
“One of the participants had rented the apartment unit for RM130 for the night,” he told Harian Metro.
He said all of them were issued compound notices to pay a RM4,000 fine each for violating SOPs. The two who broke the travel ban were fined an additional RM5,000 each.
Zainal said this action was according to Section 17 of the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021, adding that the suspects are being held for further investigation under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - FMT
