PETALING JAYA: A woman who came to the Mines International Convention and Exhibition Centre (MIECC) for vaccination only to learn that she was Covid-19-positive caused a stir today.
The management of MIECC had to isolate the woman and the fire brigade had to carry out sanitisation before the vaccination centre’s operations resumed.
However, the science, technology and innovation ministry (Mosti) has clarified that the woman did not come to the vaccination centre knowing that she had Covid-19.
It disputed claims on social media that a woman and her mother knowingly attended their vaccination appointment at the centre despite being positive for Covid-19.
The video, posted by @drcheng_qc to their Instagram Story, suggested the pair had tested positive before their appointment but had shown up regardless, and questioned why they had not been traced beforehand and had their appointment cancelled in MySejahtera.
In response, a Mosti spokesperson said these details were incorrect, clarifying instead that one of the people involved only found out she was positive when she arrived at the vaccination facility when she was contacted by the lab where she had been tested the day before.
“Accordingly, we would like to remind all scheduled vaccine recipients to be more responsible and not attend PPV until a valid Covid-19 screening test result is negative.” - FMT
