KUALA LUMPUR: A four-day charity event, involving mainly Chinese-speaking artistes, collected more than RM100,000 in household items to be distributed to needy families around the country.
The July 20-23 event was organised by production company Prodigee Asia Talent and involved artistes such as Priscilla Abby, Choo Hao Ren, Daniel Huang and Guo Xiaodong.
"The items began to be distributed the following day, on July 24," said Prodigee in a news report on Tuesday.
The company distributed the items to several charitable organisations, such as the Kentang Fund, Hope Branch and several grassroots initiatives in Sabah and Sarawak.
"The entire process, from drawing up the programme to its execution, took only two weeks," said Prodigee Asia Talent.
The Kentang Fund was founded by businessman and philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, better known as Uncle Kentang.
Kuan, 58, recently received the Commonwealth Points of Light Award from Britain's Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his charitable work.
He is the fourth Malaysian to be recognised since the inception of the award in 2018. - NST
