A total of 375,842 doses of Covid-19 vaccine injections were administered yesterday (July 7) making it the highest number administered in a day so far.
In a Twitter post, Health Minister Dr Adham Baba said of the total, 168,047 injections were for second doses.
He also said that the five states that recorded the highest first and second doses dispensed yesterday were Selangor with 80,609 people, followed by Sarawak (72,971), Kuala Lumpur (55,952), Negeri Sembilan (22,869) and Johor (22,861).
Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) chairperson Khairy Jamaluddin had said on June 3 that the government had set a daily target of 300,000 doses for the next few weeks.
He said this after announcing that the country would receive more than 12 million Covid-19 vaccine doses this month.
According to the CITF, Selangor, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya are targeted to reach an 80 percent vaccination rate by August while Johor and Penang are expected to reach the milestone in October.
Kelantan is targeted to reach the milestone in November followed by the rest of the nation in December this year. - Mkini
