Deputy Health Minister I Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali has expressed hope that incidents of sexual harassment will no longer happen at vaccine administration centres (PPV).
This comes after a woman lodged a police report about being sexually harassed during her Covid-19 vaccine appointment in Johor Bahru.
Speaking to the media in Perak today, he advised PPV officials to serve the public with pure intentions or risk deterring people from getting inoculated.
“I hope something like this does not happen again.
“When I heard about this, I felt sad because this can frighten the public.
“To all who take part (in PPVs) as officials, whether you are from government agencies, the Health Ministry, NGOs or other organisations, do be mindful of your intentions and morals,” he said after a visit to the Sungai Siput PPV.
“We are all here with only one intention - to work together to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. We come with good intentions and we work with everyone regardless of race and religion.
“We should not have other intentions,” Noor Azmi stressed.
He added action must be taken if the sexual harassment claim was proven.

On Sunday (Jul 18), 32-year-old Jaw Keyun had arrived at Persada Johor Convention Centre PPV for her appointment when a male security personnel at the entrance made lewd sexual remarks and gestures at her.
She later told her husband and lodged a police report.
Johor Bahru Selatan police are investigating the case. - Mkini
