EMCO: 3 in vehicle allowed for vaccine, medical purposes - police

The police now allow three people to travel in a vehicle together, including the driver, for vaccination and other medical appointments within an enhanced movement control order (MCO) area.

In a statement today, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said those travelling only need to show officers their vaccination or medical appointments on the MySejahtera app, website, appointment card, or SMS.

“For residents in localities affected by the enhanced MCO who have medical or vaccination matters, the police will allow the travel of three people (including the driver), for that purpose.

“Residents in those localities only need to show their appointment on either MySejahtera, portal, appointment card, or SMS message to the officer in the field.

“For other emergency cases such as illness and death, travel permission would be given on a case by case basis," he said.

“The public is advised to continue abiding by the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the National Security Council (NSC) and together play a role in the government’s efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19,” he added.

Yesterday, it was announced that several parts of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur will be subjected to an enhanced MCO from tomorrow (July 3) until July 16.

The rules for the enhanced MCO in these parts are mostly the same as the current "total lockdown" rules.

The exceptions are as follows:

1. Only one person is allowed to leave the house for necessities.

2. Only factories producing basic necessities - eg food, masks, and medicine - are allowed to operate.

3. Enhanced MCO areas will be subjected to "targeted" Covid-19 tests.

4. Entry points into enhanced MCO areas will be guarded by the police.
