For third consecutive day, cops question ‘black flag’ convoy participants

Today was the third consecutive day police hauled up those linked to last Saturday’s “black flag” vehicle convoy, bringing the total number of people questioned to 31.

Six were questioned at the Brickfields district police station this morning.

Lawyer Rajsurian Pillai told Malaysiakini that each was represented by legal counsel, including himself, Selvaakumaran Subramaniam and Nurul Hidayah Mohd Azmi.

Of the six, three had presented themselves at police stations yesterday but were not questioned.

They were asked to come a second time today to have their statements taken.

“It was a waste of time. As they came here yesterday but (statements were) not recorded,” Rajsurian said.

They were questioned under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) (National Recovery Plan) Regulations 2021.

The second is an emergency ordinance law.

None were issued compounds or arrested.

Police questioned 14 people on Sunday, 11 people yesterday and six today in connection with the nationwide convoy.

The event was organised by Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat (SSR) ahead of the collective’s #Lawan protest at Dataran Merdeka this Saturday. - Mkini
