KOTA KINABALU: A man has been arrested for breaking into his neighbour’s house and molesting her after she came out of the shower yesterday morning.
The incident occurred at Bukit Padang at about 6am with the 34-year-old woman telling police that a man pounced on her and dragged her to the bed.
The woman told police that the man had punched her and also tried to strangle her after she put up a struggle.
“He banged her head repeatedly against the wall but she continued to fight back. Finally, she managed to open the front door and shout for help,” Kota Kinabalu police chief Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said when contacted today.
“One of the neighbours heard her screams and came to help. He saw a man jumping out of the window.”
According to Zaidi, the victim’s neighbour also recognised the man as someone staying in the same neighbourhood.
Police later arrested the suspect and confiscated the clothes worn during the incident.
“The suspect later admitted entering the house to steal but changed his mind when he saw the woman and molested her,” Zaidi said.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for trespassing and Section 323 of the same act for voluntarily causing hurt.
Zaidi said the suspect had previously been convicted for trespassing and drug abuse. - FMT
