Malaysians who are fully vaccinated overseas should be provided a way to update their vaccination records in MySejahtera, said Stulang state assemblyperson Andrew Chen Kah Eng.
Chen was referring to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's announcement yesterday that he will be announcing some privileges for people who are fully vaccinated “within the next few days”.
"As the government continues to study these privileges, I wish to bring their attention to a group of people that have been forgotten by them.
"This group of people are the ones who had been fully vaccinated overseas and are either currently in Malaysia or planning to return to Malaysia soon, but have no means to update their vaccination records in the MySejahtera mobile application," said Chen.
He said a large number of such people are Malaysians studying and working in Singapore, where they would be fully vaccinated by either the Pfizer, Moderna, or Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines.
"A smaller number of them are our Malaysian lorry drivers who deliver goods into Singapore on a daily basis.
"These lorry drivers, out of goodwill by the Singapore government, were provided vaccines while we (Malaysia) were still in Phase 1 of our National Immunisation Programme,' he added.
Chen urged the ministers responsible for The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) - namely Health Minister Dr Adham Baba and Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin, to provide a method for these fully vaccinated individuals to send in their records through MySejahtera and to also be issued with a digital certificate.
"This function should be made available for all Malaysians who have been vaccinated in any country, as long as the vaccine received is included in the World Health Organisation's emergency use listing.
"Apart from allowing them to enjoy the yet-to-be-announced privileges in the near future, updating these records can also better reflect the actual number of fully vaccinated people as part of our statistics," Chen added. - Mkini
