Penang Hindu Endowment Board boss wounded in parang attack

The executive director of the Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) was wounded in a parang attack outside his home last night.

According to PHEB chairperson P Ramasamy, about three to four unknown assailants had attacked M Ramachandran when he got out of his car.

Ramasamy said Ramachandran (above) suffered cuts all over his body.

He is being treated at the Seberang Jaya Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

FMT cited Seberang Perai central police chief Shafee Abd Samad as saying that the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons.

Ramasamy, who is also the Penang deputy chief minister II, condemned the attack as an assault on the state.

"An attack against Ramachandran is an attack against the Penang government, the PHEB, and I as the chairperson of the PHEB.

"I assure the Penang Indians that I as the representative of the Penang government would leave no stone unturned in the pursuit and the eventual apprehension of the cowards behind the attack," he said in a Facebook post today. - Mkini
