To clear up any doubts the numbers are based on the total Malaysian population of 32.72 million people. This is taken from the Ministry of Health.
So 80% of herd immunity is 26.18 million people. As per this graph here:
The worrying figure is that 40% who still have not registered. That is 13.3 million people as at todate 28 July 2021.
Todate 18.39 million doses (single and double doses) have been administered. That is still a long, long way away from 80% herd immunity. You actually need 26.12m x 2 = 52.24 million doses for double dosing 80% of the population.
The worrying figure is that 40% who still have not registered. That is 13.3 million people as at todate 28 July 2021.
18 million have been registered / vaccinated.
We need EIGHT million more people to hit 80% herd immunity.
That 40% "Not Registered" number has to go down by about 24% to 16%.
Otherwise we cannot get that 80% herd immunity.
We have vaccinated only 12.5 million people or 38%.
We have enough vaccines now. The trick is getting to that magic number of 80% herd immunity or 26 million people.
We need serious outside the box thinking. Make all the PPvs walk-in centers. No need to register with MySejahtera. Everyone just walk in.
Dato Sei Shafie Apdal has made another suggestion - send the vaccines to the universities, to the hospitals, district hospitals, to the Kelinik Kesihatan.
It is not a big issue to handle the vaccines. We should have enough cold chain storage around the country.
For the 12-17 year olds just use the schools. The Guru Besar will know exactly how many students in each school. Get the students to come to the school and jab them.
Speed is of the essence. There was another insanely high level of over 17,000 cases yesterday.
Two days ago the mortality rate went to 207 dead. We really have to move fast.
