KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police will conduct random inspections in focus areas while roadblocks at state borders will be ended with the lifting of restrictions on interstate travel from midnight tonight.
Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said roadblocks will continue to be mounted in areas in lockdown under an enhanced movement control order, and those areas subject to Op Benteng and crime prevention and security operations.
“Even though there are no roadblocks, PDRM will still mobilise teams to check public compliance with SOPs,” he said in a statement today.
He advised the public not to take lightly the relaxation of restrictions, and urged them to practise a high level of SOP compliance to prevent a surge in Covid-19 infections.
The lifting of travel restrictions was announced earlier today by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob who said the decision was made as Malaysia had achieved the target of having vaccinated 90% of the adult population. - FMT
