PAS' spiritual adviser dismisses internal conflict

PAS spiritual adviser Hashim Jasin denied any internal conflict within the party following a leaked audio recording that went viral, purportedly recording a senior party leader raising concerns over party president Abdul Hadi Awang's action.

When contacted, Hashim said even if there were to be any disputes, those would be normal affairs.

"I didn't even know there was such an audio (recording). I did not listen to any such audio, and I don't know what happened.

"So it is impossible for me to comment," he told Malaysiakini.

"Internal conflict? What conflict? I don't think there is any conflict.

"Even if there were differences in opinion, that is normal, and we can't say there is a conflict within PAS," he said when asked for comments over the alleged conflict.

An audio clip went viral over the weekend that was purported to be a senior PAS leader concerned with Hadi's antics.

The person claimed Hadi believes that Perikatan Nasional is more influential than Muafakat Nasional, but at the same time insists on maintaining good ties with both coalitions.

"Tok Guru (Hadi) always repeats that in his speech, but it wasn't translated into action, and that is worrying," said the unidentified male voice.

Malaysiakini has yet to independently establish the authenticity of the audio while at the same trying to seek comments from the alleged PAS leader.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan also distanced himself from commenting on the issue, saying he refused to speak strictly based on assumptions.

Even in the event of a police report being lodged, Takiyuddin stressed his party would allow the full course of investigations to take place.

Commenting further, Hashim said the issue raised by the voice's owner never arises as all in the party have agreed upon it.

"If we talk about strengthening PN and Muafakat Nasional, that has been agreed by all. No one in PAS disputes that. So we can't say there is an internal conflict, as that never happened.

"That is the common policy which has been decided. Even the Syura Council never objected to the parties' committee formed, we are friends with both Umno and Bersatu," he said.

"Then there are those who used to be ministers but now no longer, we still did not have any internal disputes.

"In fact, even the ones not appointed, they remained calm and carried out their duties as normal," he said.

Hashim further said it is up to the party to decide whether a police report should be lodged over sharing of the audio. - Mkini
