The Health Ministry has lodged several police reports against anti-vaccine groups that propelled fake news and threaten public safety.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said this in a short statement on Twitter today.
He added that the health authority hopes investigation and prosecution against the groups can be done in due time.
"@KKMPutrajaya has lodged several police reports against anti-vaccine groups. And we hope that further actions (investigation, prosecution) can be done as quickly as possible.
"These groups have continuously spread false news, threaten the safety of the public, and are annoying," Khairy tweeted.
Similar order
It came in response to another tweet by a doctor, questioning the impunity of anti-vaccine groups in the country.
"Am I the only one who thinks that the anti-vaccine group in Malaysia is 'kebal sekebal-kebalnya' (invincible)?" said the doctor, known as Dr Sakinah.
"They could spread 'fitnah' here and there, (and there was) no action. Until when?" she tweeted.
A week ago, Khairy issued a similar order to MOH, where he instructed the ministry to lodge a report against a netizen who had allegedly spread lies about the Covid-19 vaccination programme.
The netizen had posted a list of teachers who died recently, and claimed that their deaths were caused by Covid-19 vaccine.
"There is a time to educate and engage. But there is also a time to enforce the law," Khairy had said. - Mkini
