When the Jewish people pray they sway their bodies back and forth. This ritualistic behaviour is to emulate the 'swaying' of a candle flame as it burns. Apparently the swaying of the candle flame represents its "intensity" while the candle also provides light and 'shows the way'. This is another religious belief of the Jews so of course no logic is required to justify this ritual either. Just follow and do not ask many questions.
