JOHOR POLLS | Introducing anti-hopping rules will be the BN's main agenda for Johor if the coalition emerges victorious in the forthcoming state election and forms the government, Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad said.
Hasni (above), who is the state BN and Umno chief, said he wants to include the rules as part of BN's manifesto for the Johor snap polls, which will kickstart its campaign period on Feb 26.
"I intend to include anti-hopping rules in our state election manifesto in support of the anti-hopping law when we become the government again.
"This will be the main agenda to be tabled at the state assembly,” Hasni was quoted as saying by The Star.
Speaking in an interview with the English daily, Hasni, who will be defending his Benut state seat in the election, spoke about his stance where he is strongly against party hoppers.
He stated that Johor BN has no plans to field any "political frogs" who jumped into the party as candidates.
“I will personally not have frogs as candidates in this state election,” he said.
Hasni also distanced the ruling party from two former Bersatu state assemblypersons who recently announced their exit from the party.
According to him, Umno and BN have nothing to do with the duo's decision to quit Bersatu.
He was referring to Johor state assemblypersons Mazlan Bujang (Puteri Wangsa) and Mohd Izhar Ahmad (Larkin). - Mkini
