Celcom, Maxis, Digi accept MCMC’s spectrum offers

 

Three major cell phone carriers have agreed to accept a spectrum assignment from MCMC for five years.

KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata, Maxis and Digi Telecommunications have accepted an offer from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for spectrum assignment for five years from July 1.

In separate filings with Bursa Malaysia, the three companies said they had paid a one-time fee of RM11.76 million. The spectrum assignment also calls for an annual fee of RM20.76 million payable before Dec 15 each year.

Axiata Group said its wholly-owned subsidiary Celcom Axiata has accepted the offer of spectrum in the 2530MHz to 2540MHz band, paired with 2650MHz to 2660MHz frequency bands.

Digi.com said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Digi Telecommunications has accepted the offer of 2600MHz spectrum assignment at 2x10MHz band.

Maxis Bhd said its subsidiary has also accepted the offer for the spectrum assignment of 2x10MHz of 2600MHz. - FMT
