‘Evergreen’ BN understands aspirations of youths, says Zahid

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says Barisan Nasional has not forsaken the aim behind its formation, which is to serve the people.

JOHOR BAHRU: Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reminded young voters that parties in the coalition are evergreen and have never failed to understand the aspirations of young people.

In a Facebook post today, he said BN had remained relevant since 1973 and that it was important for young voters in the March 12 Johor state elections to know that.

“‘Young’ is not about the age of the parties. We need to have policies and agenda that will benefit both the young and old,” he said.

The Umno president said BN was a strong, consistent and sustainable coalition compared to others, and it had not forsaken the aim behind its formation, which was to serve the people.

Zahid, who is Bagan Datuk MP, said young voters should be aware of this so that they would not be confused with the use of the “young” terminology in politics.

He said BN comprised both old and new leaders with vast experience and knowledge.

The Election Commission has set March 12 as polling day for the Johor elections, with nomination day on Feb 26 and early voting on March 8. - FMT
