JOHOR POLLS | DAP's former MP candidate for Tanjung Piai Mahdzir Ibrahim and Nornekman Osman, the son of former Johor menteri besar Osman Sapian, are among the 42 candidates Pejuang plans to field in the Johor polls.
Pejuang, which unveiled their candidate list in Muar this afternoon, said Mahdzir will be fielded in Semerah while Nornekman will contest in Kempas, his father's former seat.
Other notable candidates are Johor Pejuang chief Shahruddin Md Salleh who will be contesting in Machap. He is also the Sri Gading MP and former Bukit Pasir assemblyperson.
Bukit Pasir is considered to be within the sphere of influence of Muhyiddin Yassin, who is the Bersatu president. Pejuang is a Bersatu splinter party.
Muhyiddin is the MP for Pagoh, of which Jorak is one of the state seats under the federal constituency.
Meanwhile, Pejuang will also field Zaini Abu Bakar in Kota Iskandar. He was previously the assemblyperson for the seat from 2013 to 2018 under Umno.
Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir reiterated that his party will be going solo in the Johor polls.
"This is our offer... if we are given the mandate, we will form a state government that will carry out what is in our Aspirasi Johor (manifesto) which was announced by (Pejuang chairperson) Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"We are confident if many can win, we will be able to appoint experienced exco members which can match their responsibilities," he said.
Mukhriz added that Pejuang does not intend to aid any parties in seats where Pejuang is not contesting.
Johoreans will go to the polls on March 12.
