PETALING JAYA: The Multimedia University (MMU) has signed a memorandum of understanding with a management consultancy company to collaborate on a smart farming programme.
Idea Company Sdn Bhd said it had signed the MoU for the pioneer Smart Precision Agriculture Junior Growers Programme “to produce next-generation farms and farmers”.
The programme will be co-organised with MMU, with industrial input on modern farming techniques from Idea Company, which has substantial experience in the farm-to-fork ecosystem through its group of firms.
Idea Company’s agricultural and food distribution ecosystem includes JustGood Roots, JustGood Farms, JustGood Grocer and JustGood Meals.
Idea Company’s managing director Zachary Aman said they intend to recruit and train junior growers to create a pool of next-generation farmers who can use technology to change how food is grown and produced.
Idea Company will provide industrial input such as a modern farming syllabus, training opportunities and farming R&D.
MMU will provide assessments and hands-on training modules on subjects like design thinking, entrepreneurship and business management.
“Key modules and areas featured include the creation of capabilities in line with digital transformation and the use of analytics in the agricultural sector to support data-driven platforms.
“Participants will also be introduced to modules such as engineering and technology. They will learn how to incorporate more efficient and accurate processes through innovation,” Zachary said. - FMT
