Loh’s kids head to KL tomorrow for habeas corpus hearing

Loh Siew Hong fears the High Court will rule against her and separate her from her children despite a custody order obtained earlier.

GEORGE TOWN: Single mother Loh Siew Hong was allowed to meet her three children for the third time at a safe house in Jitra, a day before they are brought to Kuala Lumpur for a court hearing.

She said today’s visit was bereft of the usual formalities, with no permission letter required as was the case three days ago.

But Loh was granted the two-hour visit, from 11.45am to 1.15pm, which she said was “better than never”.

“I managed to feed them some food and spent some quality time with them.

“But, at the back of my mind, I thought this could be the last time I meet them.

“Who knows how the court case will go?” she told FMT.

Loh said the children were happy to meet her and were told by social welfare department officers that her children would be brought to Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with the habeas corpus hearing.

She had asked for her children to be under the care of the department pending the disposal of the court case.

Her lawyers had filed a habeas corpus suit at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur to compel the return of her children. She had obtained interim custody of her children in 2019 and full custody in December last year.

On Monday, Loh’s case will be heard before High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah. - FMT
