PETALING JAYA: Malaysia stormed into the Badminton Asia Team Championships in style by defeating South Korea 3-0, leaving their rivals in a state of shock.
National singles champion Lee Zii Jia overcame a lethargic first game where he went down easily at 13-21 to Jeon Hyeok Jin. However, he bounced back to win the second and third games comfortably with scores of 21-13 and 21-15.
Doubles ace Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik piled on the pressure by winning their doubles match also in three games against Kim Hwi Tae-Kim Jaehwan 21-14, 20-22, 21-12.
Malaysia’s second singles player Ng Tze Yong sealed the deal by defeating Kim Joo Wan also in a rubber match. He won 19-21, 21-16, 21-12.
