SHAH ALAM: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim says Muda wants to contest 10 seats in the upcoming Johor state elections.
He said Muda had been told to send in a list of candidates before discussions could take place.
Speaking after attending an appreciation ceremony for Selangor flood volunteers today, the opposition leader said nothing could be confirmed until further discussions took place.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had confirmed last week that his party would contest in the Johor polls after seemingly being left out of seat negotiations by Pakatan Harapan (PH).
It has yet to be determined if Muda will contest under PH, but discussions are said to be ongoing.
The PH presidential council had previously said the coalition would contest all 56 seats in the Johor state assembly, with candidates from PKR, Amanah and DAP.
Syed Saddiq, who is Muar MP, and Muda secretary-general Nur Amira Aisyah Abd Aziz are expected to be fielded as candidates in Johor.
The Election Commission is set to meet on Wednesday to confirm the polling and nomination dates for the elections.
The Johor elections must be held within 60 days from the dissolution of the state assembly on Jan 22. - FMT
