The Oil And Gas Equation In Europe

 Here is a quick 4 minute video which provides a snapshot of the energy equation in Europe. 

The overriding fact governing relations among almost all countries in modern Europe is that no one (except the UK) wants war or looks at war as a means of solving problems. Most certainly not France or Germany.

France has a much larger stake in that the French, especially their president Emmanuel Macron has actively  pushed France into a leadership position around the world by playing the role of peacemaker. Hence France has continued to play a huge role in peacekeeping in Africa, Macron personally intervened to "free" Lebanese Premier Saad Hariri from arrest (and kidnap) in Saudi Arabia and in Ukraine the French have been a signatory to the Minsk Agreement. The French see themselves as a world power through peacekeeping.

The machinations by the UK/US in Ukraine are also designed to cut the French down to size. The US/UK do not wish to see their perch on the ladder threatened by the French either. 

Contrary to media reports a substantial number of people in Ukraine also do not see war as a solution to settle differences.
