PETALING JAYA: Senior citizens and those with comorbidities can walk-in to any government clinics and hospitals to receive their Covid-19 booster shot from Jan 9.
Health minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said this was to encourage vaccine uptake among these vulnerable groups.
“Those with comorbidities or chronic illnesses, those aged 60 and above, and those at risk of serious complications from Covid-19 can walk-in,” she said.
To date, 98.3% of adults have been fully vaccinated, with 69% having taken their first booster shot.
Among the elderly, 94.1% have been fully vaccinated while 71.5% have received the first booster dose.
At the same time, Zaliha said the antiviral drug Paxlovid will also be made available to those who are eligible.
“The ministry ensures that the drug is readily available in all identified government health facilities.”
Earlier, Zaliha said the ministry had also stepped up measures for travellers arriving in Malaysia amid surging Covid-19 cases in China. - FMT
