Malik Streams Corp chief executive officer Abdul Malik Dasthigeer, who was recently arrested by the MACC, has expressed confidence that he will be cleared of all charges.
Confirming his arrest and remand, Malik (above) said he gave full cooperation to the MACC throughout the investigation, including providing all requested information.
“The MACC has conducted their investigations professionally.
“I would like to stress that I am a businessperson conducting legitimate businesses, so I’m confident that the truth will prevail and I’ll be found innocent,” he told Malaysiakini.
Prior to this, the Tamil artiste promoter better known as ‘Datuk Malik’ was arrested with another businessperson-cum-politician closely linked to Bersatu. The politician previously announced intentions to contest a state seat in Negeri Sembilan.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki earlier this week said the graft buster had in a related operation seized more than RM38 million in cash, over 200kg of gold valued at more than RM60 million, as well as 17 luxury cars.
The items seized during an operation involving 315 officers at 34 locations around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor were believed to be linked to money laundering activities.
Investigations are ongoing under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001; MACC Act 2009; Custom Act 1967; and Income Tax Act 1967. - Mkini
