PETALING JAYA: Political activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard who was arrested late on Saturday (April 28) for investigations over his comments on a proposal of casino supposedly to be built in Forest City was remanded for two days starting on Sunday (April 28).
His lawyer Rafique Rashid said Badrul, who was being held at the Dang Wangi police headquarters was, taken to court in the morning where police sought a four-day remand order against him.
He said Badrul's lawyers objected to the application by the police and following mitigations, the court allowed a two-day remand order.
Rafique said Badrul would be held until Monday (April 29) and it was possible for the police to seek further extension to his remand order.
He said the activist was being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Rafique said he learnt from police that investigations on Badrul were initiated following a police report lodged by a 45-year-old unknown individual who had read the activist's comments in Facebook.
"He is well and in good health. His message to Malaysians is to be brave and stand up for the truth, no matter how many times they are detained," he told reporters when met outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters.
Badrul had posted his comments on Facebook claiming there was a plan to build a casino at Forest City to revive the USD$100bil township in Johor.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and officials of Berjaya Group and Genting Group have since denied a Bloomberg report alleging that Anwar had met Berjaya founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Genting Group chief executive Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay to discuss the issuance of a casino license for Forest City. - Star
