KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — McLaren’s social media posts featuring Batu Caves for the Formula One race weekend in Malaysia has drawn mixed reactions from Malaysians online.

The British racing team posted photographs of Batu Caves as part of its promotional content for the race weekend at the Sepang International Circuit.

Some users questioned the choice of the Hindu landmark to represent Malaysia, with one comment asking whether the image was from Calcutta.

The remarks prompted a backlash from other Malaysians, who defended Batu Caves as one of the country’s well-known landmarks and criticised the comments.

Other Formula One teams, including Ferrari, Audi, Haas and Aston Martin, also shared images of Malaysian landmarks including the Petronas Twin Towers, Dataran Merdeka, Central Market, Bukit Bintang and Batu Caves. — Daily Express
