The death of former Permatang state assemblyman Datuk Abdul Aziz Mohd Noh, is now believed to be caused by gunshot wounds to the head, instead of a car accident as previously reported.
There was also a second victim in the car, a woman. Police have identified her as Abdul Aziz's former personal assistant, Siti Rohana Ismat, 43. Apparently, she also died due to gunshot wounds to the head.
Selangor CPO Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar stated this on his Facebook status at about 1.25pm.
Siti Rohana was also Tanjung Karang Wanita Umno vice chief.
Initial investigations revealed that there were gunshot wounds on both the victims' heads. The gunshots were believed to have came from inside the car they were travelling in, a white Toyota Caldina.
However, no bullet traces were found on the car, only within the victims' bodies.
Police found a pistol near the scene. They believe the pistol is Abdul Aziz's. The weapon is currently in the police's safekeeping.
Earlier, we reported that the Abdul Aziz had died in a car crash near Sungai Buloh, several kilometres after the Sungai Buloh R&R area, about 10am this morning.
We had quoted Gombak police chief Abd Rahim Abdullah, who said based on initial information, the car had skidded and overturned.
