Malaysia Chronicle protests against MCMC intimidation

It is with great sadness that I write this article. Not that it is the first time that I have been harassed before by the authorities for my writing, but the speed and wildness at which the government now swings out at detractors and critics show the depth of depravity the Umno-BN has sunk to.

Nobody knows who ordered this crackdown on my blog. I understand MCMC officials also interviewed Malaysiakini this afternoon andMalaysian Insider before that.

But who is angry with me? No doubt, lots of people I guess and these should include people in MCA, Star, Mr MCMC himself Rais Yatim and of course PM Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

Still most likely when I go to Cyberjaya next week, MCMC officials will grill me on Najib's 'crushed bodies', 'lost lives' and 'ethnic cleansing' speech. Strange that a man of his stature would say something in public that he seems to be ashamed of and does not want to go down in history as having said.

If he were to issue a public denial that he never made the remarks that Malaysiakini attributed to him, I would feel less angered. In fact, I would apologize.

“Even if our bodies are crushed and our lives lost, brothers and sisters, whatever happens, we must defend Putrajaya."

“What I am saying is not surprising. In the 20th century, we have seen cases of punishment without trial in the United States, the holocaust tragedy in Europe, the slaughter of Palestinians in the Middle East and the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and Rwanda. Imagine, what is the outcome, if every generation of Malaysians question the social contract which were agreed upon by their forefather."

But without his denial, who would see the latest MCMC strong-arm action as anything other than an act of sheer vengeance and vindictiveness of spirit on the part of the man we call Malaysia's 6th prime minister.

I will also share with everyone that shortly after the MCMC officers left my home (I could not return in time to see them), I received a message from someone in Umno who tried to explain that Najib has no choice but to appease the grassroots. And Umno grassroots want nothing but Malay supremacy.

"I'm convinced the supreme council members are equally heart-ache following the lower mentality debates. Well, being the Umno president and all-Malaysian PM is indeed not that easy. I don't envy Najib at all. I am sure you share the same sentiments as me."

No, I don't. I don't at all. To me, these are really excuses fit only for the rubbish bins. To me, if Najib wants to be Umno president, he should have the moral courage and the political responsibility to LEAD his party members into the current century.

Otherwise, let another man try. And then another and another. Until the shoe fits and Umno can get healthy, then only can he or his successor even think of claiming the title all-Malaysian PM! At the moment, is he even all-Malay PM, I wonder?

Life is as simple as you make it. If you wish to cloud it with unnecessary back-biting, back-stabbing, cross-talking, double-speaking, if you wish to cloak it with lies, deceit, falsehood and intrigue, then you must wish to hide something.

Why should I or any Malaysian or human being want to get entangled in such a web? We want fresh air! Whether 5 years, 10 years, 100 years or eternity, I would rather wait for it and I will!
