Speaker Tan Sri Dr Chin Fook Weng said today the misunderstanding came about following a clerk’s phone call to youth leaders in connection with the EGM.
“I asked the clerk to make the phone call. The clerk joked that they were called by ‘boss’ to become coordinators.
“They are to coordinate matters like hall, car park and press conference. It was not as bribe to vote against the no confidence motion against Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan (Penang Gerakan chairman).
“I was the one referred to as ‘boss’ and not Dr Teng as claimed by some people,” he told a press conference here today.
Dr Chin said that he is called ‘boss’ as he is an old hand having been involved in the party’s administration for many years.
A group called ‘Suara Akar Umbi Gerakan’ reported attempted bribery in run-up to the EGM to topple Dr Teng. — Bernama
