Slow pace in Sosilawati murder probe to be raised in Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR (Harakahdaily) - The slow pace of investigation into the gruesome murder of businesswoman Sosilawati Lawiya and three others was brought up in Parliament.

Kubang Kerian member of Parliament Salahuddin Ayub cited that the DNA report had yet to be available, saying any DNA report should be out within a week after wrapping up of investigation.

“This shows that there are still some missing links for the police to act. A professional DNA report by any chemist department should be out within one, or two or three days.

"But here we see that even the DNA report is not available yet,” said Salahuddin, and recalled that the police’s investigation papers handed to the Attorney General on September 23 had been returned to the police with specific follow-up instructions.

On a related development, Ipoh MP Lim Kit Siang asked Home minister Hishamuddin Hussein to state the date and the types of police reports made against the suspects of the murders, as well actions taken in response to the reports.

Hishamuddin replied that an investigation team had been working round the clock to solve the case.

“Two agencies are involved in the investigation; the first is the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) and the Attorney General's Chambers.

These two agencies are working 24 hours to investigate and ensure that this matter will be solved the soonest possible, but I cannot report to the Parliament today,” he said.

Meanwhile. Salahuddin expressed hope that the Home ministry can ensure a speedy end to the investigation.
