ALOR SETAR, Oct 22 — An aide to the Kuala Nerang assemblyman has refuted a report by a news portal that the assemblyman, Datuk Syed Sobri Syed Hashim, has been declared a bankrupt.
Sobri Sudin said the assemblyman was still servicing his company's loan since 2002.
He told a news conference here that the report of Syed Sobri's (picture) bankruptcy was an attempt to tarnish his name and topple him in a by-election.
He also said that Syed Sobri did not attend a High Court proceeding in Kuala Lumpur on October 15 where he was purportedly declared bankrupt as reported by The Malaysian Insider. — Bernama
