Azmin: Zaid's withdrawal from party polls a personal decision

SHAH ALAM - Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president Mohamed Azmin Ali described Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's withdrawal from the contest for the post of deputy president of the party and his resignation from all party posts as a personal decision.

He said that he only knew of Zaid's decision on Monday and added that the action taken by the former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department should be respected by everyone.

Although Zaid had announced his withdrawal from the contest for party posts, everyone in PKR should accept the choice made by the party members particularly those from Sabah, in determining the party leadership last weekend, he told reporters at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly building, here when asked to comment on Zaid's announcement in his blog.

"This is a democratic process in the party which should be accepted by candidates contesting in the party polls. The election will go on and I'm convinced that party members can accept this as a democratic process in the party," Azmin said. - BERNAMA
